Optimus Mechanical Structures Team

  • Designed custom spring architecture for extending fingers on Optimus hands, achieving human-like dynamics
  • Utilized programming expertise to create a software tool for optimizing longevity and performance with 7 configurable spring parameters. This tool adapts as finger architecture evolves for use in perpetuity
  • Optimized hand production to clear bottleneck for data collection by: refining the design to minimize post processing, creating processes and tools to increase assembly efficiency, training technicians, & improving docs
  • Designed custom fixture for adding removable visual calibration features to the hands with +/-1mm & +/-1 deg accuracy

Northeastern Rover Team

  • Lead-arm team in developing 6 DOF mechanical arm necessary for completing high dexterity challenges
  • Worked with large team of Northeastern students to design a 50kg rover for the University Rover Challenge
  • Serviced and maintained rover during international competition in Utah. Placed 13th/99 teams
  • Redesigned wheel attachment mechanism with consideration for the challenging terrain the rover is subjected to

  • Engineered 3-axis robotic arm to manipulate stereoscopic camera that will replace a surgical microscope: designed joint assemblies and industrial casing, performed structural FEA analysis in SolidWorks.
  • Implemented code to control robotic arm in C++ using Multivariable Calculus and Differential Equations.
  • Developed robotic arm in-house by implementing Linux drivers for joystick, communicating with manufacturers
  • for part selection and sourcing, and performing reliability testing on robotic arm.
  • Created Unix scripts for easy field deployment, installation of system, and source control.
  • Executed thorough error- and data-logging system using log4cpp and jsoncpp libraries.
  • Devised & prototyped novel 812:1 compact non-back-drivable reduction gearbox for robot joint in SolidWorks.
